Autopreserve Native Codec

Keeprix only allows one codec and no options. It should detect and download natively so no transcoding required (takes way longer, generational loss). H265 doesn't even work on my PC because keeprix apparently demands AMD so it fails every time, despite my pc having QSV and NVENC capability

Just as an aside… don’t use H265 at all with Keeprix. It downloads a H264 video, and then it recodes it to H265 when it is done downloading. You’re basically lowering the quality of your downloads, while also not getting ANY benefit of the newer and more compressible codec.

Yeah that’s what I discovered, however sometimes I think a video is downloaded as H265, in which case it does the opposite and transcodes down to H264.

Hi there, thank you for your detailed feedback regarding the native codec options and hardware acceleration.

We completely understand your concerns about transcoding and the need for more codec choices. The good news is that we are currently optimizing our software and will be introducing more advanced video and audio codec settings in our upcoming iterations. Please stay tuned for our future updates!

Regarding the specific issue where H265 downloads fail on your PC despite having QSV and NVENC capabilities, we would like to investigate this further. Could you please submit a support ticket directly to our technical team here: https://www.keeprix.com/support/submit-ticket.htm? This will help us identify the root cause and work on a fix.

Thank you for helping us improve Keeprix!

I believe these might be related:

-netflix asks for profile between every single download

-disney asks for profile most of the time, then complete pw login/MFA every 3-4 cycles

After downloading, it spends so much time decoding that the handshake is lost. Two solutions: 1. stop transcoding with the wrong codec 2. start another download when the previous one enters the decode phase and run them in parallel
