Thanks for reporting this. We’ve investigated the issue and found that it is related to the language metadata used for audio and subtitle tracks in recent Keeprix versions.
In recent updates, we made changes to preserve more specific language information based on user feedback. For example, instead of labeling everything simply as Portuguese or Spanish, Keeprix can preserve more detailed variants such as Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, Mexican Spanish, or Spanish from Spain. This helps users identify the exact audio or subtitle version they need, especially when the same title includes multiple regional language tracks.
However, QuickTime does not currently recognize some of these more detailed language tags correctly. As a result, the audio and subtitle tracks are still included in the downloaded file, but their language names may not appear in QuickTime. This is why the issue can occur in newer Keeprix versions while older versions displayed the names normally.
Current workaround: We recommend using VLC or another compatible media player for now. These players can generally recognize and display the language names correctly.
Our plan: We’re looking at how to improve compatibility with QuickTime and other players while still preserving these more specific regional language labels. We don’t want to simply remove the detailed language information, since it is useful for users who need a particular regional version. We’ll update this post when we have further progress.
Thanks again for reporting this and for your patience while we work on a better solution.
